      Assortment Category Dynamics

      Overview 

      The Assortment Category Dynamics Dashboard provides detailed insights into cannabis category performance across various product types: Dried Cannabis, Cannabis Extracts & Vape, and Edible Cannabis. This dashboard allows cannabis brands, producers, and retailers to analyze trends, optimize inventory, identify whitespace opportunities, and understand category growth dynamics at a granular level. 

       

      Tabs 

      1. Assortment Categories (Overview) 

      This tab provides a high-level summary of category performance, sales dynamics, and retail trends. 

       

      Use Cases 

      • Cannabis Brands & Producers: 
        • Identify top-performing categories and product pack sizes. 
        • Analyze sales velocity, unit growth, and ARP (Average Retail Price) across key product levels. 
        • Track category mix trends over time to refine product assortment strategies. 
      • Retail Dispensary Managers: 
        • Optimize product offerings based on trending categories and pack sizes. 
        • Identify whitespace opportunities to expand or diversify product inventory. 
        • Monitor category growth by dollar and unit velocity to align with consumer demand. 

       

      Key Metrics Available 

      • Total Retail Sales: Overall sales across categories. 
      • Pack Units and EQ Units: Units sold for each product type. 
      • Total Brands and Products: Total number of active brands and product SKUs. 
      • Category Mix: Proportion of sales by product category (e.g., Flower, Vape, Edibles). 

       

      2. Dried Cannabis 

      This tab focuses on performance dynamics for the Flower and Pre-Rolled categories. 

      Key Insights: 

      • Snapshot Metrics: 
        • Total Retail Sales for Flower and Pre-Rolled categories. 
        • Pack Units, EQ Units, and ARP for both product types. 
      • Pack Size Analysis: 
        • Total Retail Sales by Flower Pack Size. 
        • Trending sales and velocity by pack size. 
      • Top Flower & Pre-Roll Strains: 
        • Top 50 strains by total retail sales. 
      • Sales and Pricing Trends: 
        • Comparison of ARP, original list price, and discounted price by pack size. 

       

      3. Cannabis Extracts & Vape 

      This tab provides insights into Concentrates and Vape product categories. 

      Key Insights: 

      • Snapshot Metrics: 
        • Total Retail Sales, Pack Units, and ARP for both Extracts and Vape categories. 
        • Brand count for each product type. 
      • Pack Size & Dollar Velocity: 
        • Dollar velocity and retail sales trends across pack sizes. 
        • Category-level performance by “Live” vs. “Non-Live” products. 
      • Top Strains & Brands: 
        • Top 50 Extract and Vape strains by total retail sales. 
      • Trending Performance: 
        • Trends in ARP, unit sales, and dollar velocity segmented by item weight and pack size. 

       

      4. Edible Cannabis 

      This tab focuses on performance for Confections, Chocolates, and Beverages within the Edible category. 

      Key Insights: 

      • Snapshot Metrics: 
        • Total Retail Sales, Units, and ARP for: 
          • Confections 
          • Chocolates 
          • Beverages 
      • Category Share: 
        • Dollar share of candy, chocolate, and beverage categories. 
        • Top-performing candy and chocolate types. 
      • Pack Size & Flavor Trends: 
        • Pack size trends by retail sales and velocity. 
        • Top 50 flavors by total retail sales. 
      • Sales by Cannabinoid Mix: 
        • Breakdown of retail sales by cannabinoid mix (THC, CBD, etc.). 
      • Brand Growth: 
        • Category-level brand and product growth trends.

      • Category Trends: Identify which product categories, pack sizes, and strains are driving the highest sales and units. 
      • Velocity Metrics: Analyze dollar and unit velocity to identify high-performing products.
