Track and benchmark your stores' performance versus custom territory or total market.
BDSA’s Store Benchmark enables retailers and brands to compare their stores against the Rest of Market (ROM) within a defined territory. The dashboard combines store location mapping with sales, pricing, and assortment benchmarks to help you evaluate market position and competitive dynamics.

Visualize Territory Performance: Map your locations vs. competitor stores and analyze trade areas using custom competitive radii.

Benchmark Sales & Pricing: Compare your sales and pricing directly to the Rest of Market across multiple metrics.

Understand Assortment & Brands: Assess category mix, brand rankings, and product performance relative to the ROM.
This tool helps you quickly identify where your stores outperform or underperform and where assortment or pricing adjustments may capture additional market share.
Key Steps
1. Accessing the Dashboard

Log in and open Store Benchmark.

Default view shows:

My Locations (blue)

Competitors (red)

Competitive Radius (shaded)

2. Defining Competitive Radius & Territories

Use the Competitive Radius dropdown (minutes or miles).

Select stores on the map.

Save as a Territory to re-use later.
3. Applying Filters

Right-side filters allow refinement by:

Date range (day, week, month, quarter)

Brand house, brand
-
Product or pack size
-
Location tier
-
First-party brands
-

Expand filter options by toggling the "Additional Filters" button.
4. Reviewing Sales Performance

In the Sales section, track:

Retailer Total Retail Sales (your selected locations)

ROM Total Retail Sales (all other locations in market radius)

Toggle Sales vs. Index views.

Segment by dispensary, category, or pack size.

Compare Total Market vs. Average Location for benchmarking.
5. Analyzing Pricing Trends

Under Pricing, view Original Price Index.

Compare your price levels to the ROM to understand positioning.
6. Exploring Assortment Breakdown

Charts show % of Products vs. % of Sales by category.

Toggle By Location to see performance store-by-store.

Data tables provide SKU count, SKU share, dollar share, and pack ARP vs. ROM benchmarks.
7. Evaluating Top Brands & Products

Use Top Brands and Products section to rank by:

Brand

Product Type

Individual Products

Select Top N (10, 20, etc.) for expanded analysis.

Tables show Dollar Velocity, Unit Velocity, ARP, compared against ROM.
8. Deep Dive into Inhalables & Edibles

Inhalables tab: Top strains (Flower, Vape, Pre-roll) → compare sales vs. share of shelf against ROM.

Edibles tab: Top flavors (gummies, chocolates, etc.) → measure your sales contribution vs. ROM assortment.
9. Using Additional Filters

Click Additional Filters for:

10. Exporting Data

At least two competitor stores must be included to generate ROM benchmarks.

Applying too many filters may exclude important competitive signals.
Tips for Efficiency

Save custom territories to avoid re-selecting stores.

Benchmark My Locations vs. ROM to spot pricing or assortment gaps.

Use benchmarks to save preset views in the dashboard. Use scheduled exports to recieved charts or tables on an automated schedule right to your inbox.
