BDSA Retail Sales Tracking (RST) is derived from transaction-level data from thousands of anonymized data feeds combined with multiple other data sources including E-Comm data and Partner data sources. Once that data is in-house, we clean, code, categorize, anonymize, and project that data to a 100% representation of each state market. We use a mix of technology and human resources to clean and project the data, as well as use outside partner and public data to help us get to that market representation.

The data feeds BDSA sources are primarily through retailers that have directly opted into sharing their point of sale data with us. Through this data, we take care to ensure we have a representative panel for geography, size of store, and management size, to project to an accurate picture of the entire market. With the addition of other supplemental data partners, BDSA is able to cover, on average, more than 80% of stores in a market. This data flows through our proprietary  processes, resulting in the authoritative source of market data on product attributes, pricing, brand share, innovation, and more.
